Magnus began playing water polo at South Florida Water Polo Club at 10 years old in 2019, where his hard work ethic and team-oriented mentality quickly saw him develop into a strong all-around player for the club, capable of filling out the team’s line up in multiple positions in the pool.
Magnus’s willingness to work hard and embracing the physicality of the sport would see him develop rapidly and in the 2021-22 National Team Selection cycle, Magnus was selected onto the Southeast Zone Development (13u) age group team that would compete in California for a spot on the national team, Magnus was one of six South Florida WPC athletes that would be selected onto the 14-athlete roster, it would be this group of athletes including Magnus that would shape the standard of competition and dominate in the club level in Florida for the following years to come.
Magnus would continue to see success as a part of South Florida’s 13u team that took gold at the 2022 South Florida WPC’s Annual International Tournament, it would be a foreshadowing of national caliber success Magnus would achieve at South Florida in the following three years Magnus would earn the following major club successes.

Along with an impressive resume playing for the club, Magnus was also a vital piece in the revival of Northeast High School’s water polo team, the Broward-based high school is steeped with South Florida WPC history and is the claimant of the two first FHSAA Florida boys’ water polo state championships, however, over time the program decayed into non-existence. It was Magnus’s arrival at the school helped to rebuild the program that went from a team unable to compete due to stipulations in his freshman year, an arduous four years would see Magnus earn multiple All-Broward selections as well as the program revitalize, as they would reach the semifinal of their regional championship tournament and finish the season as a top-25 ranked team in the state of Florida.
While coaching, Magnus will be attending Florida Atlantic University as well as continuing in ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) program that he had done in high school.
