2025 Miami Herald’s All-Dade County Teams announced

We want to wish congratulations to all of our elite athletes for the impacts they have on high school water polo and on their respective high school teams.

Evan Miller, Miami Country Day School, Jr. - Second Team All-County Selection - 62 goals, 31 assists, 15 steals. Evan helped to cement Miami Country Day as one of the state’s premier programs, leading the school to a third consecutive regional final appearance.

Leonardo Blaya, Miami Country Day School, Jr. - Third Team All-County Selection - 48 goals, 35 assists, 14 steals. Leo was a key contributor to the Spartans’ success, providing a strong level of game instinct as well as managing certain games.

Andy Rueda, Mater Lakes, Sr. - Third Team All-County Selection - 32 goals, 11 assists, 9 steals. Andy was a key contributor of the club’s 2023 Dallas Junior Olympics 16u championship team, and he brought a winning factor to the Mater Lakes Bears, with some timely goals and interventions, Andy helped lead the Bears to within one goal of the state championship win, finished the season as a state championship runner-up.

Rafael Blaya, Miami Country Day School. So. - Honorable Mention - 237 saves, 28 steals, 18 assists. Rafa had another huge season between the pipes for the Spartans, proving himself to be one of the state’s elite shot stoppers his 237 saves we enough to place him at fifth for most saves in the season.

Max Possin, Miami Country Day School, Jr. - Honorable Mention - 32 goals, 27 assists, 29 steals. Max provided the Spartans with another great season filling up the stat sheet with meaningful contributions across the board, Max has been a key contributor for the Spartans the past two seasons as they confirm themselves as one of the state’s top programs.
