South Florida Goalkeeper earns spot on the U.s National Team

A huge moment for the club today, our star goalie, Marcell Varhalmi, was selected as one of four goalkeepers onto the United states national team for the 18 and under age bracket. this follows an incredible path that saw Marcell competing for the United States 15 and under age group regional age group that went on a training trip in Serbia last august.

Marcell’s work ethic and attitude towards keeping the ball out of the net helped to enamor the national coaches with his abilities even as a younger athlete in the group at the age of 16.

Marcell will have the opportunity to compete at senior nationals, one of the highest-level domestic competitions that includes some high-level former and current collegiate athletes as well as some overseas professionals and potentially some Olympians. and in June Marcell will also travel with the national team contingent to Italy for training against several international teams as well as compete in a tournament hosted for European teams preparing for the European championships at the end of the summer.
