2025 Miami Herald’s Broward County All-County Team Selections Announced

We want to congratulate all of our incredible athletes that have been selected for the honor for their great seasons and achievements.

Christopher Bennett, Westminster Academy, Jr. - First Team All-County Selection - 61 goals, 53 assists, 62 steals. Lead his school to its first ever state championship, was selected onto the USA 18u Futures National Team.

Marcell Varhalmi, Saint Thomas Aquinas HS, Jr. - First Team All-County Selection - 223 saves, 40 steals, 23 assists. Helped high school reach another state tournament appearance, was selected onto the USA 18u National Team.

Andreas Lajko, Saint Thomas Aquinas HS, Fr. - First Team All-County Selection - 83 goals, 62 assists, 26 steals, 19 field blocks, 36 major fouls drawn. Only freshman selected onto the first team all-county.

Lev Konnikov, Saint Thomas Aquinas HS, Jr. - First Team All-County Selection - 131 goals, 53 steals, 27 assists, 21 field blocks, 23 major fouls drawn. Finished the season fifth in total points scored this season across all athletes in the state and second in goals scored, helped Saint Thomas Aquinas reach the state semifinal match.

Samuel Eastaugh, Saint Thomas Aquinas HS, Jr. - First Team All-County Selection - 67 goals, 59 assists, 51 steals, 4 field blocks, 42 major fouls drawn. Helped lead Saint Thomas Aquinas to the state semifinal match, this is Sam’s second consecutive First Team All-County selection following the 2024 season.

Shane Whitaker, South Broward HS, Sr. - Second Team All-County Selection - A four-year starter at South Broward High school, Shane finishes his playing career as one of the greatest to play for the Bulldogs.

Juan Lopez, Stoneman Douglas HS, Jr. - Second Team All-County Selection - 108 goals, 50 assists, 16 steals. Juan finished the season ranked fourth in total points in the state along with sixth overall in total goals scored for his second consecutive selection onto the Sun Sentinel’s All-County teams.

Holden Harkins, Saint Thomas Aquinas HS, Jr. - Second Team All-County Selection - 46 goals, 40 assists, 27 steals, 14 field blocks, 15 major fouls drawn. Holden helped lead the Aquinas Raiders to the semifinal of the state championship, Holden is also an elite long-snapper for the Saint Thomas Aquinas HS football team.

Abraham Penaloza, Pembroke Pines Charter HS, Sr. - Honorable Mention - 41 goals, 30 assists, 28 steals. Abraham finished his high school playing days helping to lead the Jaguars to an appearance in the regional tournament.

Riley Andres, Saint Thomas Aquinas HS, Jr. - First Team All-County Selection and Broward County Female Player of the Year - 175 goals, 29 assists, 54 steals. Riley was the focal point of the Aquinas women’s team that reached an impressive regional finals appearance on the back of Riley’s efforts. A former USA National Team Selection Camp athlete, Riley was also selected as the Miami Herald’s Broward County Female Player of the Year.
