South Florida Alum finishes second season in the U.S. National League

Our very own Max Zelikov, freshman at Stanford University, recently finished his second season competing in the U.S. National League under the U.S. Pipeline Team.

The National League is the highest level of domestic water polo outside of NCAA water polo, it features some of the top high school prospects, current college teams as well as former professionals from overseas as well as former Olympians, including legends of the game such as Denes Varga and Filip Filipovic.

Max was a key contributor to the team’s success, playing in all in all 14 games filling up the stat sheet with 34 goals on 49.3% shooting, 10 assists, 11 steals, 8 drawn exclusions and 4 sprints won. Along with that Max posted the second highest +/- rating on his team with a score of +51.0, the +/- stat is used by the league’s official stat keepers at 6-8 sports to give a numerical value to a player’s overall contribution.

After a strong National League campaign Max will be looking to build forward to next season at Stanford University after helping his U.S. Pipeline Team to the second-best record in the league with 11 wins and 3 losses.
